I'm picking out our hymns and folksongs for the 2016-17 school year. The hymn choices are informed by the Ambleside Online suggestions, but I have made some substitutions because I want the kids to be learning hymns from our hymnal. Some of our choices are very familiar, others are favorites of mine that don't get sung very often.
1. God Moves in a Mysterious Way (p285)
2. Children of Our Heavenly Father (p299)
3. Oh Say What is Truth? (p272)
4. Jesus Lover of my Soul (p102)
5. Truth Reflects Upon Our Senses (p273)
6. Be Still My Soul (124)
7. Praise to the Lord, the Almighty (p72)
8. Jesus the Very Thought of Thee (p141)
9. Ye Simple Souls Who Stray (p118)
10. Lord, I Would Follow Thee (p220)
11. Let Zion in Her Beauty Rise (p41)
12. Sweet is the Peace the Gospel Brings (p14)
And, of course, there's a YouTube playlist. We'll spend some time around the piano, but the playlist is an important support, and I'm especially grateful this year for a couple of specially made videos.
We'll also be doing folk songs again this year, once again informed by the Ambleside Online suggestions, and with a playlist so that, even if we're not actively singing them, we can be getting familiar with them.
1. Blow the Man Down and banjo lesson and violin
2. Loch Lomand and banjo tab and violin
3. The Maid of Llanwellyn
4. Ditchling Carol
5. The Fish of the Sea
6. Y Gwcw Fach
7. The Chivalrous Shark
8. I've Been Working on the Railroad and banjo with chords and violin
9. Skye Boat Song
10. Will Ye Go Lassie Go and banjo tab and violin
11. Land of the Silver Birch
12. The Ash Grove

I like the hymns you picked - a couple are favorites of mine, too. Not that familiar with most of the fold songs. Should be fun!
