What We're Up To

Monkey tried out the chop sticks when we had raman noodles. I was pretty impressed with how he did!

This is chives from our garden. Our first harvest of the year!

These are bags that I'm making. They are works-in-progress, still needing handles & linings & such. Jessica, you should let me know which you like better.

Yay for fresh produce :) That's awesome!

The bags are lookin' good too. What sort of handles are you going to put on them?

They turned out even better than I thought they would at this point, and I was so excited that I posted them before they were finished! I've got 'em done now, and should probably have new pictures by later this afternoon.

I was pretty pleased about the chives. I planted them last year; apparently they're perrenials cuz they made it through the winter. And they are looking so happy! They've got flowers that will bloom soon. I'll have to take pictures of that. Then I'll chop 'em off & eat 'em! Can't wait to see the look Andy gives me when flowers end up on our plates for serious food! Found out that pansies are also edible. Those are some tough flowers: we've got a few that either self-seeded or also survived the winter. My marigolds were also coming up the last time I was out there to look. I need to water this evening. The rain they keep saying might come, isn't coming.

Oh, the bags are gorgeous! I love your choice of colors!

I think I would like to have the second bag with the larger squares, if that works.

--Another edible flower: dandelions. My oldest keeps asking if she can eat them straight from the grass!

The bag in the back is the larger one, but it's the bottom that's larger, not the squares. I think that's an optical illusion. I will be sending it along shortly. Did you give any thought to what size you want the 2nd basket to be?

VERY cute bags!! And congrats on the fresh chives! That's something i haven't tried yet. To date this year, we've gotten green onions, a couple of bowls of fresh strawberries (YUM!) and a handful of sugar snap peas so far. I LOVE fresh from the garden produce!

Thanks! I'm glad you like the bags. I have more under construction.

You ought to throw some chives in. I started them last year & I actually didn't harvest many, if any. Mostly because I wasn't sure what to do with them. But I put them in things that would work well with scallions this year, and it's fun. It's still to early for much. I'll probably plant my peppers & tomatoes very soon, since it's stopped getting cold at night. But in the mean time, the chives are fun.
