Phases of the Moon: Day 3

Well, we are officially in the "waning gibbous" phase of the moon now. Here's another interesting tidbit: they think the moon is actually moving away from us at the rate of about 4cm a year. Not that you'd notice to look at it. Also interesting: the moon makes an orbit around the Earth every 29 1/2 days. Here I'd always thought that a lunar month was 28 days. Today's factoids are courtesy Space.com, which also has an article about the moon's bulge. Who knew the moon bulges? I'm off to read about it.
